Would you like to break away from your everyday turmoil?
Come and enjoy a week in a pottery in a tiny village in rural
France.
Another world, another rhythm, simplicity and peace of mind.
Offer yourself a relaxed week, just for you.
The workshops are open to beginners and advanced throwers, with
a maximum of 15 participants. There are 3 different themes to
choose from. The workshop is one week, including
accommodation and all meals, made with fresh local products.
You can pitch your tent in our orchard or rent one of our rooms
in the old farm.
We will spoil you and make sure you can relax.
During this week a professional potters wheel is at your
disposal. You will (learn how to) throw some pots, finish your
work with a glazing (a thin layer of quarts with metal oxides).
Depending on the theme of the week you will fire your objects in
either a Raku kiln, in our Anagama (traditional Japanese
technique) or in a kiln for crystalline glazes.
See “themes” for more information on the firing techniques and
“workshop” for more on the course. Discover the fascinating
world of clay, water and fire.
Vannecourt is situated in the beautiful Saulnois-area, a
five-hour drive from the port of Calais (easy driving on the
highway), or 2 1/2 hours by the TGV (high speed train) from
Airport Charles de Gaulle, Paris. We will pick you up at
Morhange train station.

In the mornings there are lessons; in the afternoons students
are free to continue working in the workshop or to have a look
around the area, a swim in our pool, go for a walk in the
beautiful countryside or simply read a book under one of the
fruit trees and enjoy the view. There are also bikes available
for our guests.
May we suggest a visit to Art-Nouveaux cities Nancy and
Lunéville?
Guests can pitch their tent on the grounds of Atelier de
Céramique or sleep in a room (at a surcharge). Vannecourt is
situated in the North-East of France in the beautiful
Saulnois-area.
Our little world is without mass tourism, traffic jams,
pressure and the need to achieve. This is not a holiday with an
empty feeling after having consumed in touristic boutiques.
Neither is it a competition for making the Best Piece of Art; we
offer an exploration with like-minded people into an ancient
craft. A holiday in which you create, and in the mean time enjoy
the process of changing clay into pots with the help of water
and fire. Situated in a century old Lorain farmhouse in a simple
French village.
